This is many episodes of a power rangers TV series strung together with many episode recaps left in which give the illusion of an artsy cutback / cut forward flashback style narrative. the monsters are primary school brilliance - the team of square power rangers are frightened for their very lives when confronted with "Freaky Tiki", amongst others for example. Everyone is after the "lights of orion" which are some kind of supernatural elemental force that inevitably ends up giving the rangers swish new watches and weapons. and the Magna Defender himself, well... like Clint Eastwood in a cardboard plastic space viking helmet. Scorpius (who is a pillow with tentacles) killed magna's son years back , Magna D has been on a mission to get him back and he don't care who gets in the way - he's nuts! & completely stressed out - to the extent he keeps getting angina >the pathos!< . and a scene with a birthday cake that has to be seen to be believed. this is the best movie ever bar none. if you enjoyed "flash gordon" or "schizopolis" or the monkees' "head" you might enjoy this.
